A place where I can write about all of the people I've been having conversations with lately, the kind of conversations where I feel warm and alive, followed by a desperate need to share that feeling with you, to write about it.
What I do know for sure is that all of the stories here will be true, and all will be about people and topics that fascinate me. I'm going to let my curiosity take it from there. But I do hope most of what you read here will inspire you to keep going towards what you love, or encourage you to explore new ways to feel more alive.
The world is a tough place to live, and many of these stories will explore how we keep going when we feel like giving up, and how sometimes the smallest things bring the biggest joys.
There will also be stories about hobbies and relationships and tragedies and adventures and who knows what else. This blog itself is an adventure, a true story about what it means to follow your curiosity.
If you're curious about what's coming next, subscribe to the newsletter to get new stories.
ps- If you want to learn more about me you can read my official bio here.
My mission as a writer is to put more beautiful true stories into the world. My hope as a writer is that those stories will do for you what they do for me: make you smile, laugh, cry, inspire you to keep going, or help you feel less alone.
I've been writing true stories about people for 10 years, mostly interviewing people about the creative process or their dreams. The idea for this blog was born after I graduated with my MFA in Writing and found myself suddenly writing about more things and more kinds of people than ever before (like stories about The Last of Us and turtles). But I didn't know where those pieces should live, since my most well-known blog is exclusively about profiling creative people.
Then on a plane I got an idea for a new URL and bought atruestoryabout.com before I landed home. I wanted a new place to play, to follow my curiosities about people and share occasional essays.
As I write this I don't yet fully know what this will become, all I know is that I need a place to play.
